THE SUMMARIZED STORY OF HOW PROMO DOVE MARKETING BEGAN

I combined my acting degree with my video degree and put them together to create commercials for local companies. I write, I act, I do videos. To be really dangerous, I took quite a few courses on social media marketing to help those videos get seen. Why not create an opportunity helping other businesses get what they need, while also working on my craft?

 

 

THE LONGER VERSION

 

I have been interested in video editing/production since a very young age. It wasn't until high school where I edited my first video in my music appreciation class. It was a one minute video of me doing a rap I wrote about not quitting. The video featured a bunch of unnecessary color flashes, transitions and even a nifty electricity and lighting effect intro... I know, fancy?  I also grew up being an entertainer. Whether it was through music or comedy I always wanted to make somebody laugh, smile or bob their head. I graduated from Gardner-Webb University years later in 2013 with a Bachelors of Arts degree studying Communications and Theatre.

I've done a ton of video projects, some for others, many for myself. I've acted all through college and some things outside of college. I enjoyed the humor in things like the super bowl commercials, old spice, beef jerky etc. I always thought that I could really be hired to write some of these.

As I was walking down the street one day, I started noticing businesses all around me. I started thinking things like, "I know these places could really use great commercials, but just can't afford the super bowl budgets." Then I started thinking, what if we they had "localmercials". It was an idea that I initially had to combine the words 'local' and 'commercial'(... didn't see that word-play idea through). I did though, decide to combine my writing, acting and videography talents into something. It turned into a business that combines those things together in one way or another.

In order to take the business to another level, I was able to first, take Dan Henry's SMM course, followed by a handful of courses on social media marketing, (after ironically seeing an ad about it). I thought that would be the perfect opportunity to bring all of this together. Not just creating funny or witty videos, not just being able to act in them, but being able to spread the word on social media with Facebook and Instagram ads.

The final breath was, I was working at an elementary school for almost 5 years and decided to finally take my jump into the arts full time. I knew that with enough consistency, this business of mine could really be something special for myself and others. It would also help me to build capitol for all of my music, acting and other arts projects. This business does not only help me, but also others to make their business dreams come true.
